Quality instructors and programming is what makes a great swim school. At Safe Swim Arlington, all of our instructors are top-notch aquatic professionals. Each of our instructors have completed thorough background checks and are certified by the American Red Cross. Each instructor comes from a strong swimming background and most have been through our program, at some point in their lives. Our only business is swimming and we do it with a passion!
Program Director - Brian Dangelmaier
Program Director with more than 30 years of experience. Former professor of biomechanics at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), and adjunct professor of exercise physiology at The University of North Texas, with more than 45 professional publications and presentations. Author or co-author of three books covering topics of biomechanics and physiology of sport. Coach of 2002 and 2004 High School National Champion and several Top 16 National Reportable swimmers. Brian is also a licensed Expert Coach with USA Cycling for more than two decades. Long time member of the Board of Trustees of the Texas Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (TACSM), Age Group Chairman of North Texas Swimming, and member of the Age Group Development Committee at USA Swimming. Brian was elected to the position of USA Swimming Southern Zone Age Group Chairman in 2008, and has served in many administrative roles within North Texas Swimmng. Brian earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at UTA, his Masters of Science degree from the University of North Texas, and is a doctoral candidate in biomechanics at Texas Woman’s University. Brian is a retired Arlington ISD swimming coach and teacher at Lamar High School.
Site Supervisor - Lauren Black
Lauren began swimming at the age of eight for Emler’s Swim school and then swam for Lamar High School for four years. She has worked for MARS as a swim lessons instructor for several summers during summer breaks from college. She has been a certified Lifeguard for 7 years. Lauren graduated in May of 2009 from the University of the Ozarks with a BA in Religion. She is also the youth director for Emmanuel Presbyterian Church of Bedford and the Head Swim Coach and Aquatics Director for Nolan Catholic High School.
